What people are saying

“I’m beyond disappointed with my experience, especially because this was completely avoidable. I specifically asked the nail tech not to use the black builder gel on my nails and requested an alternative. Instead of listening to what I wanted, I was rudely told no and essentially pushed into using it anyway. Now, shortly after the appointment, my nails have already started opening up- yes opening (I've never experienced this at any other salon but here), and one has lifted/opened so badly that there is a gap and wet black builder gel exposed- gross! At this point, I have to remove it because I’m concerned about water, food, and debris getting trapped underneath. However, I'll also be filing a small courts claim because this is unacceptable. What makes this even more frustrating is that I had my nails done for my dad’s funeral. The last thing I expected was to be dealing with my nails falling apart. This is also the second time I’ve had a tech here do such a horrible job, and I had to return to fix it and the nails were opening. I’m paying for a service, and I should be able to make a reasonable request about what products are used on my own nails without having to argue or be pressured into something else. The two male techs I’ve used were horrible (can’t recall their names and Justin who I saw the time before this was also extremely rude and unprofessional. Mary is the only tech I've had there whose work was quality. I really wanted to continue using this salon because it's close, but after this experience, I won’t be visiting again. BEWARE and look at my pictures.”

“Unfortunately I do feel like it’s necessary to leave this review . I have acrylic nails and I need a fill in . Before Bryan started on my nails I go check the colors out , I see this mint green . I pick the color , as he’s drilling off my nails he says I should remove all my nails because “they’re chipping off “ mind you I’ve only had my nails for 3 weeks , and the drill they use is so strong of course it’s going to basically remove my nail, he starts digging his nails in mine to show me why I need to remove them . And I said no it’s fine when you fill it in they’ll be fine (which they were ) , I can tell he’s getting frustrated because my hands aren’t as relaxed as he wanted them to be . That’s something I noticed . Then I see him giving me a fill in with builder gel , and I say “you guys don’t do acrylic fill in ? He says no . To my knowledge I assumed they did because I seen they have acrylic service . Cool . Now he starts to color my nails . I see how LIGHT the first coat is so I say “oh I’m going to need 3 right since it’s so light ?” He says “no 3 is going to be too thick , and I still have to add the top coat. SO NOW I GO BACK TO LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT COLOR .i was really set on that green and all i needed was 3 coats for them to look decent . So I asked him “can i just do 3 coats because i don’t want any other color . This is all happening while im looking at the nail color book . He says fine . So in my head I’m like “why didn’t he just say “yes it’s fine if you want 3 , the first time . I can tell he was just annoyed . And idk for what because it’s not like I was being nasty , complicated , non of that . So now he’s painting my nails and I made a comment saying “it’s so light it almost looks white “ because even with 3 coats it didn’t even look green , and I was still okay with that . He goes to say “sometimes the color that’s on the nail doesn’t always looks the same . And OF COURSE , that’s not always the case but in order for MY NAIL to look like your demonstration I needed at LEAST 3 coats .which even after 3 it still didn’t look green . if the nail salon DOES NOT want to give people 3 coats then they should inform the customers and say “the color doesn’t appear the same as the example and we only do 2 coats . Mya sits right next to him and after I made that comment she said something to him and he responded back with an attitude . And he just continued painting my nails . This was probably the WORST customer service experience I’ve had in that place . From the beginning he kept telling me what “I should do “ from removing my nails to not getting 3 coats but then he said yes . He was just nasty . And even after all that I still tipped $5 . And that’s the LOWEST I ever tip . I didn’t want to give him anything because he was just rude . But being the fact that I’ve gone there before and I’m still RESPECTFUL I did .i usually get my nails done with Mya , but I was open minded to someone else cus I didn’t want to wait 30 minutes . Worst mistake . Imagine I would’ve told him to take my nails off and charge me for a whole new set and he had an attitude about my nail color … lol I had nail polish on my cuticles , and my shape was ok , it’s like he did my nails to do them , because he knew dam well 3 coats still wasn’t enough . Very unfortunate experience . UPDATE: these are my nails now and it hasn’t been 10 days since I’ve got them done”

“I went last month and I paid 85 job was ok this thing today at 11am I went got a nail take off and gel manicure I came out got home and my husband said let me see he saw he said who did this don’t know how to paint nails I looked closer and man was he right I checked wince there I looked didn’t look closer and well now look at he put polish so far from the nail cuticle and is noticeable I will not go back there again yes they are nice the people working but I mean come on now that’s the only reason I put 1 stars ALL I CAN SAY IS WHEN THEY FINISG YOUR NAILS INSPECT THEM CLOSELY IM THAT NICE I DIDNT BUT WONT GO BACK SECOUND AND LAST TIME I GIVE EM A TRY THE FIRST TIME WHEN I GOT A FULL SET THE GUY DID NOT GLUR THE THUMB WELL SO THERE WAS A GAP ON NAIL AND MY ACTUAL NAIL SO EVERYTHING WATER WENT IN THERE SUCK”

“I’ve been to many salons in New York, and Modern Nails Bar truly stands out. The salon is clean, elegant, and everyone here treats you with genuine care. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted warmly — not rushed or ignored like at some other places. The technicians are skilled, gentle, and take their time to make sure everything is perfect. Prices are clear and fair, no hidden fees or surprises — just great service and beautiful results. You can tell they really care about quality, not just money. I always leave happy and relaxed every single time. Highly recommend to anyone who values professionalism and great energy. 💅✨”
