What people are saying

“She did absolutely perfect. It was exactly what I wanted. She was very polite, designed the thumb nail herself match the rest (the picture i had didnt show the thumb). So cute can't wait to take wedding photos with these.”

“I am beyond disgusted and furious with the experience my boyfriend, his little sister, and I had at New York Nails in Altoona Mall on Friday. The entire visit was unprofessional, disrespectful, uncomfortable, and absolutely not worth the $130 total we spent. Not a single penny of it was deserved. We understood there would be a wait since they accept walk-ins, which was perfectly fine. What was not fine was having to sit there while two customers came in and sat directly in front of us absolutely reeking of cheap perfume and straight weed. The smell was so overpowering that it made both my boyfriend and me nauseous and gave us migraines. It was disgusting, and the salon staff did absolutely nothing about it. My boyfriend’s little sister was taken back first, and her experience alone should have been enough for us to walk out. The nail tech repeatedly cut her fingers with the Dremel while filing her nails and then had the audacity to get irritated with HER for flinching in pain. Instead of being careful, the woman kept snapping at her to “keep still” while continuing to hurt her. Nobody paying salon prices should leave with sore, cut-up fingers. Yes, the design itself turned out cute, but no nail art is worth being treated like that, especially for $70. Then came my turn, which somehow managed to be even worse. The older man who did my nails ignored what I wanted and decided the length himself without asking me. The entire appointment he was constantly on his phone — texting, taking calls, stopping mid-service — which was beyond unprofessional and irritating. He barely even filed my nails correctly. I asked for coffin-shaped French tips with a small pink heart accent, and what I got looked like it was rushed by someone with zero attention to detail. The white polish was streaky and uneven, the hearts were different sizes and crooked, and the edges of my nails were so sharp I literally had to file them myself in the car afterward. I also noticed he never properly had me cure my nails under the UV light after applying the acrylic, which explains why the quality was so awful. The absolute final straw was how I was treated at the end of the appointment. After the UV light turned off, he told me I could get up and wash my hands. He then walked away to the back room. Naturally, I assumed we were done, so I got up and started washing my hands. While I still had soap all over them, this man suddenly grabbed my wrist aggressively hard — hard enough that it genuinely hurt — and snapped at me, “I didn’t say you could do this. I wasn’t done with you.” He then started roughly scrubbing my hands with a towel that felt like sandpaper. From there, he became even more rude and confrontational, aggressively questioning me about who I was with, who I was paying for, and making me point out where my boyfriend and his little sister were sitting. I had to call my boyfriend over because of how uncomfortable and ridiculous the situation had become, and the employee was rude to him too. My boyfriend was seconds away from snapping because nobody should be spoken to or treated that way over a damn nail appointment. To spend $130 total just to leave with cut fingers, migraines, painful nails, sloppy work, and an employee physically grabbing me is absolutely insane. I have genuinely never felt so disrespected at a business in my life. We did not tip, and I will never give this place another dollar. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values customers and knows how to treat people with basic respect and professionalism. If I could give 0 stars I would.”

“I update my reviews when I have issues, or am very pleased. I go to this nail salon FAITHFULLY! Today I had a young emplo6 (new to nails) paint mine and a female had to take over because of how bad he was shaking. The color is uneven and does not look professional and yet they still charged me the full price. I'm disappointed is the service and ite not the young man's fault. He should be taught on a fake hand not real people who work hard for their money and only get one chance at doing something nice for themselves every once in awhile”

“Says its on the 2nd floor, it is not, also called 3 times to find location and its definitely not anywhere near Macy’s upstairs or downstairs. Finally found it next to Dinos pizza. I have sciatica and fallen arches and its been ridiculous trying to coordinate, even the mall map displays incorrect location.”

“The salon is clean, and they are polite. However it's very frustrating to ask for a service such as dip nails (which they offer) and they don't have someone trained on the service working so they pressure you into acrylic. Then you end up with a clearly crooked nail and they tell you it's you finger that's bent not the nail. I got a face time from my 16yr daughter asking me if I knew a way to fix her nails because of her experience here. Her nail was crooked like a badly glued press on nail. She said she had asked them to fix it and this was it fixed. She didn't want to cause a scene, the language barrier didn't help and they don't offer refunds and to add insult to injury They say the accept credit card have the machine but ask you to pay cash instead and pull cash from their ATM that charges fees.”
